First scientific paper published in the Memorie by Giuseppe Lorenzoni. In this article Lorenzoni confirmed the existence of a new line in the solar spectrum, which he had named “f”. This was the line corresponding to neutral helium, a chemical element then unknown on Earth. The observation of this line f, according to the methodology described in this article, became one of the statutory duties of the newly formed Society.
